Druskininkai is the oldest health resort in Lithuania. In 1794 the king of Poland and Lithuania announced a decree officially designating Druskininkai as a health resort. However, it became a health resort only after I. Fonberg, Professor of Vilnius University, investigated the spring water and advised that the Czar government should establish a resort in the area (1837).
The tour will give the possibility to learn about the history of this health resort, its architecture, and modern treatment establishments. The pride of the town is its mineral springs and you will have a chance to try the curative mineral water and mineral bath procedures in the Health Centre.
